MeadWestvaco is to acquire Netherlands-based Keltec Dispensing Systems, developer and manufacturer of patented foamer and airless dispensing systems, for an undisclosed sum.

Supplying to the personal care, health care and home care sectors, Keltec's products are said to feature a unique, metal-free dispensing path that prevents any direct contact between the formulation and metal, thus maintaining a high level of product integrity. The company's rolling bellow technology and use of minimal components is claimed to give high performance for medium and high viscosity fluids, producing rich, luxurious foams associated with high-end personal care products.

Keltec will become part of MeadWestvaco Calmar, the company's pump and spray packaging business acquired in 2006, and production will be integrated into existing facilities in North America and Asia while activities will be expanded at the Drunen facility in the Netherlands. The company's management team will remain in place and employees will switch to MeadWestvaco Calmar.

“Keltec's ability to innovate differentiated, high value solutions for customers in the personal care, beauty and home care markets has propelled the company to the forefront of the dispensing systems marketplace,” commented John A Luke Jr, chairman and ceo of MeadWestvaco. “With this acquisition, we are combining Calmar's global resources and market prowess with Keltec's unique product lines to benefit new and existing customers, and to realise long-term profitable growth opportunities.”
