British make-up brand MoMineral Makeup has opened its first independent store in Derby, UK.
The brand was created when founder, Omolara Tayo Sobajo, saw a gap in the market for natural make up products for women of ethnic minorities.
All of the brand’s products are formulated and manufactured with natural ingredients in the UK.
“MoMineral Makeup was created to provide African, Asian and Caribbean women with more healthy choice when it comes to make-up products formulated with natural ingredients,” said Tayo Sobajo.
“We believe that dark-skinned women in the UK in particular should have more choice and should not have to wait for major brands to validate their beauty needs.
“With the increase of celebrity endorsements we have noticed that major brands are now trying to play catch up and yet we have been here all along.”
Tayo Sobajo has a degree in Microbiology and a Masters in Business Administration, and has worked for seven years as a freelance make-up artist.
In addition to the make-up range, the new store will showcase handmade African jewellery and interior decorations as well as provide a creative hub for start-up businesses, specifically targeted at people from ethnic minority communities.
