Neal’s Yard Remedies, the ethical body care company founded by Romy Fraser in 1981, has become the first UK high street retailer to be awarded the CarbonNeutral brand mark by The Carbon Neutral Company.
Having had its carbon footprint audited, Neal’s Yard Remedies can now claim to be carbon neutral at its head office, production facility and stores. The accreditation follows rigorous vetting of its CO2 emissions from travel, waste and energy sources. Plans were set in place to reduce emissions gradually through internal changes and then by reducing the remainder to zero, through carbon offsetting.
Sue Welland, founder and creative director of The CarbonNeutral Company says: “We are very excited that our message is entering the high street through the leading work that Neal’s Yard Remedies is doing. Climate change affects us all and as individuals, and through the companies we work for, we each have a social duty to tackle this issue.”
