Neutrogena responds to criticism of ambassador Tate McRae's make-up wipes video

The Kenvue-owned skin care brand’s humorous response to a video of singer and Neutrogena Brand Ambassador Tate McRae using its make-up wipes with the lightest of touches has been met with praise from social media users

Neutrogena has responded to criticism surrounding a video featuring singer and Brand Ambassador Tate McRae using its make-up removing face wipes after it went viral.

In a TikTok video of her post-show routine, the‘ Greedy’ singer appeared to barely touch her skin with the Neutrogena products she was promoting, including Neutrogena Makeup Remover face wipes, which prompted a backlash.

“Is Neutrogena bad for your skin or something?” said user @destinyyy_tv in the comments of the video.

TikTok user @sfrazzz said: “I can’t believe Neutrogena approved this.”

“Refusing to actually use the product you’re marketing… interesting choice,” added @ashlei0912.

Responding to the furor, Neutrogena has posted a tongue-in-cheek video on its official Instagram account from the point of view of the make-up wipes.

“I would like to thank everyone for the sudden attention,” said the post’s caption.

“Please respect my privacy as I adjust to the fame.”

The animated wipes thanked viewers for the 9 million notifications from those who liked, commented, shared and reposted McRae’s original video.

“Hey. Wow, I have been off the grid. Little digital detox after a big festival weekend,” the wipes said.

“You know the one, wink wink. And I checked my phone to see 9 million notifications from you guys, thank you.

The video continued: “I see you, and I hear you, girl.

“I think I have some reflecting to do too, you know?

“I am really, like really good, at cleansing your face, but am I even better at causing a scene?”
