New active ingredient SAGACIOUS to reduce sagging skin and improve its firmness

With age, the structures of the skin tend to become disorganised. The skin appears slackened, loses its firmness and its elasticity. Seppic has developed SAGACIOUS, a biomimetic anti-sagging ingredient, from brown seaweed, Himanthalia elongata, that strengthens the mechanical properties of the skin down to its deepest layers

An innovative anti-sagging approach inspired by plants’ behavior in space.

SAGACIOUS™ is inspired by the behavior of plants in space, which, to maintain their integrity in zero gravity, synthesize specific molecules from the glycolipid family, the SQDG (sulfoquinovosyldiacylglycerol) responsible for maintaining plant structure.

That’s how SQDGs have been identified as the solution to fight against skin disorganization and sagging. In a biomimetic approach, we selected the algae Himanthalia elongata for its high concentration in SQDG. This brown seaweed is harvested sustainably, in Brittany, France.

Thanks to a patented, innovative and eco-designed extraction process called "Cœur d’algue" glycolipids are extracted and concentrated 7 times more than with the historical approach, in a minimum of steps, thus saving time and energy.

A new anti-aging strategy, targeting all skin layers

Tested in vivo for 1 month, SAGACIOUS™ visibly improves skin firmness, 8 times more than the placebo and has also been tested on the decrease of nasogenian folds. It works with a multi-level action on the overall skin properties, by strengthening the dermo-epidermal junction and the mechanical properties of the dermis and acting on the depth of the cutaneous layer by strengthening the dermo-hypodermal junction.

Compliant with Chinese regulations, SAGACIOUS™ is also COSMOS and Natrue approved with a 100% naturalness rate according to ISO 16128.
