TRI-K Industries has announced the launch of TRI-K TMP, a Type III anti-freeze protein that provides both fortification and protection to the skin.
In nature, anti-freeze proteins have evolved in a wide range of species to permit them to thrive in the harsh environment of below freezing temperatures. These proteins bind to cellular membranes to modulate environmental changes and protect from fluctuations in temperature and osmotic pressure.
Anti-freeze proteins were originally sourced from cold-water fish, but more recently, one type has been cloned into baker’s yeast, Saccharomyces cevevisiae. Now, in partnership with A/f Protein, TRI-K Industries is offering the many skin care benefits of anti-freeze protein to the cosmetics and personal care industry.
Studies have shown that TRI-K TMP acts primarily by boosting the production of protective proteins in the skin and also by promoting cell proliferation. This indicates that TRI-K TMP allows skin to not only defend against daily stresses such as environmental pollution and UV, but also to more effectively repair itself after exposure to such a stress. This ingredient has further been shown to reduce skin redness and irritation and improve moisturisation, making it a multifunctional ingredient for overall improvement of skin health and appearance.
