New barcode scanner and high-speed sensor from SICK

SICK (UK) has launched two new instruments: the CLV65X, a barcode scanner with an exceptionally quick read rate; and the WLL180T photoelectric sensor, designed for reliable object detection even in fast production processes.

The CLV65X has a read rate of up to six metres per second and is said to boast improved decoding and stable reading rates on low contrast or partly destroyed barcodes. Using time of flight technology (TOFT) the scanner measures the time the laser takes to reach a label and then adapts its focus accordingly, which ensures high performance over long ranges.

Meanwhile the WLL180T is claimed to detect process operations of up to 31,250 per second without the loss of reliability. The sensor has a response time of just 16ms and can achieve a scanning range of up to 20m even in ambient conditions, according to SICK.
