New PDMS fluid range is in its element

Momentive Performance Materials has launched a range of polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) fluids under the brand name Element14.


Momentive Performance Materials has launched a range of polydimethysiloxane (PDMS) fluids under the brand name Element14.

These replace the company’s existing regional low viscosity fluids to simplify ordering and supply chain management, standardise global specifications, improve surety of supply, standardise containers and weights and make label information uniform.

The first Element14 products are Element14 PDMS 5 and Element14 PDMS 10. Both are low viscosity polydimethylsiloxane polymers with benefits that are said to include temperature and oxidative stability, low flammability, low surface tension, spreadability, shear stability, lubricity, high compressibility, low vapour pressure, low odour and a non-oily, soft and silky feel.

Momentive expects Element14 will be extended to include high and medium viscosity fluid portfolios in the near future.
