Packaging and dispensing specialist Aptar Group and its partner PureCycle Technologies have hit a milestone with PureCycle’s Ultra-Pure Recycled (UPR) plastic.

Aptar has now converted prototype material from the PureCycle Feedstock Evaluation Unit into multiple colours of hinged closures with performance similar to conventional resin.

Both companies are working together to determine the right material combination to created hinged closures for cosmetic, food and beverage applications.

Aptar and PureCycle first collaborated in September 2019 with a strategic agreement, and for the past two years have worked on prototyping UPR in dispensing solution applicators.

PureCycle is working to begin commercial production of UPR at its facility in the US, and Aptar will have access to UPR from this initial site as well as from future PureCycle facilities globally.
