Improving water quality

Brenntag UK & Ireland is pleased to announce substantial investment in its sodium hypochlorite manufacturing facility in Thetford, Norfolk to further strengthen its position as one of the leading suppliers of this product in the UK & Ireland.

This investment programme, starting in 2011 will improve plant efficiencies to provide additional capacity and renew key elements of the infrastructure in line with the recent reclassification of sodium hypochlorite and therefore the site’s status as a top tier COMAH installation.

The Thetford facility produces over 40,000 tonnes per annum of ultra low bromate grade sodium hypochlorite, which is used in potable water treatment applications and is the active ingredient in many household disinfection products. The product is of a very high quality and is manufactured at the only facility in the UK offering a sodium hypochlorite product approved by the Drinking Water Inspectorate specifically for sanitisation use in hard water areas, marketed under the name TP-Chlor.

Commenting on this development, Clare Waters, md of Brenntag UK & Ireland stated: “The investment demonstrates Brenntag’s continuing commitment to the manufacture of this essential water treatment product and will provide our UK & Ireland customers with an improved supply chain and increased security for the foreseeable future.”
