From Velcro to Japan's kingfisher-mimicking bullet train, the natural world has inspired a multitude of groundbreaking solutions to everyday problems. Yesterday was the first day of the biennial Sun Protection Conference, taking place at the Royal College of Surgeons in London, UK, which asked delegates: “How does nature deal with the harm that sun can do to organisms?
