Cognis and IMD develop weight management and cognitive performance actives

A cooperation between Cognis and natural product discovery company InterMed Discovery (IMD) has delivered promising results, says Cognis.

The speciality chemicals supplier utilised IMD’s database of biologically active natural substances and its IMD Bioprofiling technology platform to discover innovative functional ingredients for use in functional foods. It has now exclusively licensed two new active ingredients, one for weight management and another to enhance cognitive performance from IMD, in addition to four other ingredients targeting weight management and heart health licensed previously.

According to Bernhard Müller, director of global R&D/technology at Cognis Nutrition & Health, the first product is expected to hit the market soon and will further strengthen Cognis’ product portfolio in important global growth markets.

A massive 62% of visitors came from outside France with attendance particularly strong from Asia, the US and Latin America, with a huge spike in visitors from Brazil
