Google reveals most searched-for beauty terms of the year

Google has revealed the most searched for terms in 2015, including beauty items. Braiding continued to be popular with the term “fishtail” topping the list and cornrows and pigtails also in the top ten.

The list is based on the most frequent search terms in 2015 that were significantly more popular than the previous year. This provides greater insight to trending topics compared to a list of items such as “Facebook” or “weather forecase”. Google does not release details about the number of searches for each term.

MAC’s Cinderella inspired range was the most searched-for launch of the year, with “MAC Cinderella” coming third on the list. Other frequently searched beauty brands were BareMinerals and Christian Louboutin’s new range of lipsticks which launched earlier this year.

In the “how to” list, “how to lose belly fat” was the top query with “how to lose weight quickly” also appearing at number three.

Matt Cooke, Head of Google’s New Lab in London, commented: “Our annual Year in Search survey provides a fascinating snapshot of our interests and obsessions throughout the year.”
