One man’s trash is another man’s treasure is a phrase that may not immediately spring to mind when thinking about the aspirational world of beauty, but a new wave of entrepreneurs are proving that the two can shine.

While consumers are continuously encouraged to recycle and pay more attention to food waste, roughly one third of the world’s food produced for human consumption gets lost or wasted every year – that’s approximately 1.3 billion tonnes.
