Germany reports hair dye problems
Henna products under scrutiny
EU consumer protection information service RAPEX has reported market recalls in Germany of Indian hair dyes over breaches of the EU cosmetics directive. One involved henna hair dye Afrin’s Supreme Red Henna, for containing 1.9% of the oxidation hair dye 2-Nitro-p-phenylendiamine. The other was the Herbal branded Naturally Black Henna, which contained 12% p-phenylenediamine (only 2% is allowed under the directive in hair dyes).
