How beauty brands are celebrating Earth Day 2022

Earth Day, which falls on 22 April, was first launched in the US by Senator Gaylord Nelson and Harvard graduate Denis Hayes in 1970 to demonstrate support for environmental protection.

Since then it has spread to more than 180 countries with one billion people participating in the annual events activities each year.

Brands are more than ever more conscious about the way in which products are made, formulated and disposed of in relation to environmental and carbon footprint.

Skin care brand Tropic, for example, has funded conservation work in the Amazonian rainforest and helped to protect 65,000 hectares of forest from unsustainable palm oil practices in Indonesia.

Meanwhile, as of March 2021, Ethique offsets 120% of its carbon emissions by its plastic free products.
