Japanese beauty owner Kao Corporation has made a number of changes to its leadership team.

Yosuke Maezawa will take over the role of President of the beauty owner’s cosmetics business, which includes brands such as Sensai, Kanebo, Molton Brown and John Frieda.

Maezawa has been with the company since 1986 and held a number of senior positions across its brand roster, including President of Kanebo Cosmetics and E’quipe, which distributes the RMK and Suqqu brands.

Meanwhile, Mark Johnson will serve as the company’s President of Americas and EMEA for its cosmetics business, following his role as President of body care brand Molton Brown.

Alongside Maezawa and Johnson’s appointments, Kao also announced a number of promotions and new hires to its team of executive officers across the company’s consumer products, marketing and legal departments.

More from Kao:

Earlier this year, Kao saw a slump in sales for its half-year 2022 results, which the company attributed to rising materials prices.

However, its consumer products division saw sales increase 2.3% to ¥556.9bn, with its cosmetics arm reporting an almost 5% uptick in sales to reach ¥116bn, compared with the prior year.
