Katy Perry takes the throne

The pop star\'s latest scent, Killer Queen, launches in late August

US pop singer Katy Perry has added to her growing fragrance portfolio with Killer Queen. The scent, which is said to capture Perry's rebellious spirit, was composed by IFF perfumer Laurent Le Guernec and pens on wild berry, dark plum and bergamot, with mid notes of red velvet flower, jasmine sambac and rainbow plumeria. Finally, the base notes blend cashmeran with patchouli and praline.

In keeping with the royal theme, the bottle was made to resemble the shape of a queen's sceptre. The bottle itself is coloured red and gold, featuring a gold crown that bears a crest specially created for the Katy Perry brand.

The fragrance was created by Coty, which inked a new agreement with the pop star last year to develop and market her line of fragrances. As part of the deal, Coty also now distribute Perry’s existing fragrance portfolio, which includes Purr and Meow!, originally developed in partnership with licensee Gigantic Parfums.

Killer Queen launches in late August priced from £23.50.
