A new study on Evonik’s ABIL T Quat 60 conditioning ingredient is said to demonstrate a massive reduction in hair breakage.

The study examined the breakage possibility of hair treated with a shampoo and a conditioner containing ABIL T Quat 60 subjected to a custom build automated grooming device performing repeated combing followed by the number of broken fibres being counted. Both formulations were found to provide a dramatic anti-breakage benefit: 60% for the shampoo and 88% for the conditioner.

ABIL T Quat 60 is described as a premium silicone conditioning agent with excellent substantivity to hair keratin, outstanding conditioning and impressive heat protection properties. It is also said to improve colour wash fastness and have a silky skin feel and is now said to effectively protect hair against breakage, offering easy detangling, smooth wet combing and superior wet feel.

Evonik recommends the material for conditioning shampoos (including clear ones), hair rinses and leave-in formulations as well as body washes.
