In today’s crowded skin care market, it might seem like every avenue for innovation has been explored, and then again.
The global skin care market is expected to reach US$190bn by 2023, according to Zion Market Research.
An attractive figure for beauty entrepreneurs, several indie brands have managed to identify a somewhat more unusual way to capitalise on the growing demand for glowing skin – taking an about-turn on facial skin care, they are looking to the derrière for inspiration.
Thanks to mega-influencers Kim Kardashian and Kylie Jenner frequently flaunting their curves on social, The Plastic Surgery Group in London, UK, reported a 500% increase in consultations for Brazilian butt lift procedures in recent months.
Similarly, the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery revealed that buttock lifts are the second fastest growing surgery after labiaplasty.
So it’s little surprise that the beauty product industry is also looking to the rear, with the added advantage of offering consumers a cheaper and less invasive alternative to going under the knife.
