Sabinsa has successfully completed the audit for several of its natural cosmetic ingredients as conforming to COSMOS standards, verified by Ecocert Greenlife: Cococin (Cocos nucifera liquid Endosperm), SABERRY (Emblica officinalis fruit extract) and Nigellin Amber (Black seed extract).
COSMOS standards were developed by BDIH (Germany), COSMEBIO and ECOCERT (France), ICEA (Italy), and Soil Solution (UK) to define standards for organic and / or natural cosmetics and ingredients used in cosmetics adhering to highest feasible sustainable practices.
All the products marketed with the Ecocert logo have been verified by Ecocert teams from composition to processing and packaging. This provides consumers with transparent information on the content. All the ingredients are having this certification must be from natural origin, excepting a restrictive approved ingredients list (including preservatives) authorised in small quantity.
“With increasing demand for Green chemistry and natural ingredients in cosmetics, these ingredients will help our customers to conform to COSMOS standards,” said Dr. Muhammed Majeed, Founder and Chairman of the Sami-Sabinsa Group.
“Having COSMOS approval means that we comply with criteria that companies must meet to ensure consumers that their products are genuine natural ingredients produced to highest feasible sustainability practices.”
“COSMOS standards are well accepted throughout the European Union, and are expanding to other regions and countries, including China,” Dr. Majeed continued.
“Having COSMOS certification will help us to market our ingredients to companies having COSMOS approved mark on their end products or companies having COSMOS ingredient requirements for their product line.”
