Smashbox has teamed up with smartphone brand HTC to create the Selfie Kit – a selection of make-up products specifically designed to make users look selfie-perfect. The kit has been created alongside a new HTC device, with talent show judge Alesha Dixon supporting the campaign.
As the quality of digital cameras continues to improve, and consumers spend more time on social media, the demand for 'high definition' make-up is increasing. Smashbox's origins in a photo studio makes it well-placed to respond to the trend, alongside HTC which recently launched the HTC Desire 620 phone, featuring a 5 mega-pixel front-facing camera. The HTC Desire 620 also includes a range of Live Make-up beauty editing tools that further enhance selfies.
Ben Walsh, Head of Marketing, UK, at HTC, said: "With over 17 million selfies uploaded in the UK per week, you can't deny that this trend has become firmly seated in popular culture. By giving the HTC Desire 620 a range of state-of-the-art beauty editing tools, a powerful 5MP front facing camera, youthful design and super-fast connectivity, we have created a phone that takes the best selfies. Smashbox has a great heritage of creating industry-leading make-up that performs under every kind of photography, including close-ups, and we're sure this limited edition collaboration will be another incredibly popular beauty innovation."
150 HTC X Smashbox Selfie Kits (£48) are available for purchase through the Smashbox website, including a selection of products curated by the brand's team of make-up and photography experts. The kit includes: Photo Finish Foundation Primer, Full Exposure Mascara and LA Lights Blendable Lip & Cheek Colour. A selected number of Selfie Kits are also available to win on HTC's social media channels.
The brand has also teamed up with reality TV star, Alesha Dixon, to promote the range. Dixon said: "I'm a big fan of selfies, but it often takes me ages to get the perfect shot – not ideal with my hectic schedule! The Smashbox x HTC Selfie Kit is the new saviour of my make-up bag as it has all the tools to help me look my best. When I combine this with my HTC Desire 620 which acts as my pocket photo-editing suite, I'm always ready for my close-up."
