Unilever acquires minority stake in bacteria skin care brand Gallinée

Unilever Ventures has acquired a minority stake in Gallinée, the French beauty brand designed to support the skin’s microbiome.

It is the first time Unilever has invested in a brand that creates microbiome-based products.

Gallinée’s formulas use prebiotic, probiotic and lactic acid complex, which are designed to support the natural flora of the skin.

Anna Ohlsson Baskerville, Director with Unilever Ventures, said: “We have been impressed by Gallinée’s level of innovation and consistency.

“It is rare to find such young brands with the right mix of science and consumer focus. I look forward to working with Marie and her team to build upon the company’s momentum and many growth opportunities.”

Gallinée was launched in 2016 by Marie Drago, who is a French pharmacist with 15 years’ experience working for skin care brands.

Its products range in price from £12-£35 and include five face and body care skus including Hand Cream, Body Milk, Foaming Facial Cleanser, Facial Hydrating Cream and Face Mask & Scrub.
