Wacker expands silicone production site in Brazil

Heightened demand in the area for specialty silicones has prompted the expansion in São Paulo

Wacker is expanding its silicone production in São Paulo, Brazil.

The company is building a facility at its Jandira site to manufacture anti-foam compounds and functional silicone fluids.

Wacker was prompted to expand the site to meet demand for specialty silicones for use in the personal care industry, among others.

Total investment on the creation of the new multi-purpose facility will be around €7m.

Wacker Executive Board member Auguste Willems said: "In South and Middle America, the market for our silicone solutions is growing, especially in the personal care, household and textile sectors."

Meanwhile, Adriano Magalhaes, Managing Director of Wacker Quimica do Brasil, added: "With the expanded silicones production in the year of Wacker’s 40th

anniversary in Brazil, we can offer considerable added value to our local customers and partners.”
