When walking the aisles of Maison et Objet, I was really attracted by the luxurious and cosy sofas exhibited by furniture design companies, but I kept my eyes on the prize and went to the beauty section of the event.

Maison et Objet is the French flagship event for interior design and homeware.

It is hosted two times a year, in January and September, in seven halls and extensions in the city of Paris with designer brands hosting special events in their showrooms, giving life to the Paris Design Week every September, and a smaller edition in January.

Niche beauty brands

Beauty brands have been exhibiting sporadically at the show as an extension of 'Home Fragrances' with the soaps and hand-wash section located in Hall 5 at the event.

They are aiming to be noticed and sourced by concept and design stores.

An American brand, Jao Brand, has been an exhibitor for about six years and wouldn’t miss it for the world.

It finds that the event gives it the opportunity to meet people that traditional beauty exhibitions wouldn’t attract, limiting the number of brands it must compete with in order to stand out.
