Machine will be able to wash and blow dry hair

Trials of a robot that can shampoo, condition and blow dry hair, are due to come to an end early this month.

The Head Care Robot, created by Panasonic, has been on trial in Japan since April. It was designed to help those who are less able to wash and dry their own hair, such as elderly or disabled people in hospitals and homes, however it is also being primed for salon use too. The machine has 24 finger-like tips that it uses to provide a personalised shampoo, condition, massage and blow dry.

Panasonic could commercialise the robot later this month once feedback from the trial period is taken into consideration.
