PolyOne, a leading supplier of specialised polymer materials, services and solutions, has opened a new R&D colour lab at its Avon Lake facility. This will be used to develop new colour and additive solutions, such as liquid colour systems, to meet specific customer needs.

“Solving our customer's unique problems is the main goal of this new lab,” commented Peter Prussak, the company's director of technology. “Our investment in R&D enables us to continue creating innovative and customised colourant and additive solutions that add value for our customers and, just as importantly, their customers.”

PolyOne customers will be able to use the company's colour matching services plus take advantage of analytical and physical testing services including FTIR, microscopy, haze and light transmission, additives quantification, drop dart impact, bottle drop (to eight feet), hot fill and accelerated product compatibility and product weathering testing. Lab scale applications equipment will also be available to simulate injection, blow and rotational moulding processes.

This is PolyOne's seventh colour lab in the US and in Q2 of 2007 the company plans to expand it with an extrusion line.
