Rihanna is the new CoverGirl

CoverGirl (Procter & Gamble) has appointed pop star Rihanna as the new face of the brand. The 18-year-old star joins the ranks of Christie Brinkley, Molly Sims and Queen Latifah as CoverGirl. The first CoverGirl ads to feature Rihanna will be shot this month for a US launch in summer 2007.

Rihanna was chosen for her natural beauty and musical talents, and is the latest in a long line of CoverGirls to reinforce the brand's heritage in music, such as Faith Hill and Brandy. Gina Droscos, vice president and general manager of global cosmetics, Procter & Gamble Beauty, said: “Rihanna is a talented, confident young woman who exemplifies the CoverGirl ideals with her inner confidence and fresh beauty.”
