Saudis go scent shopping
Sales of cosmetics and fragrance in Saudi Arabia are set to grow 7% to SR5.25bn (US$1.39bn) this year, according to US-Saudi Business Council figures.
A Gulf News report says shopping, including fragrance buying, has become increasingly popular as a result of a lack of many recreational facilities in Saudi Arabia and that Saudi consumers now buy up to three bottles of fragrance in a single shopping trip.
European fragrances are said to be most popular, accounting for 34% of the total, with the majority of these being French. Asian products, particularly Chinese, are second, followed closely by American scents.
