Scarlett Johansson’s skin care brand The Outset shutters after four years

The skin care brand, co-founded by Marvel actress Scarlett Johansson and entrepreneur Kate Foster Lengyel in March 2022, has ceased trading, but existing orders will continue to be processed

American actress Scarlett Johansson’s skin care brand, The Outset, has ceased trading.

The beauty brand, co-founded by the Marvel star and entrepreneur Kate Foster Lengyel in March 2022, posted an update on its website to customers that it was closing but did not provide a reason.

“After an incredible journey, The Outset has made the decision to wind down operations,” the statement on The Outset’s website read.

“We are so grateful to everyone who welcomed us into their routines and supported us along the way.

“If you have questions about an order or need assistance, please reach us at help@theoutset.com.”

Online shopping at theoutset.com has ended, but all existing orders will continue to be processed as usual, according to the brand’s statement.

The Outset’s hero products included Firming Vegan Collagen Prep Serum and Nourishing Squalane Daily Moisturizer.

Johansson, best known for her role as superhero Black Widow in Marvel’s Avengers movie franchise, said the brand aimed to deliver “a clear, approachable approach to beauty” ahead of its launch in 2022.

Co-founder Lengyel, meanwhile, has held leadership roles in the beauty divisions of fashion labels Victoria’s Secret and Juicy Couture.

Johansson has also previously served as an ambassador for luxury cosmetics brands including L'Oréal Paris and Dolce & Gabbana (D&G).

The Outset marks the latest celebrity-founded beauty brand to shutter over the past year.

No Doubt singer Gwen Stefani’s Gxve Beauty allegedly shuttered after four years in business in February 2026.

This followed actress Drew Barrymore’s Flower Beauty brand closing after 13 years in September 2025, while Cosmoss, the brand created by supermodel Kate Moss, also ceased trading in June last year.

Cosmetics Business has contacted The Outset for a statement.
