Selling points: Weleda hair

Published: 3-Oct-2013

Weleda's new hair care range, which took five years to develop, offers holistic care for every hair type.

Since 1921, Weleda has used its understanding of the harmonious connection between humans and nature to create natural products that support the body's own strengths. Key to this holistic care philosophy is the brand's lead plant principle, a combination of anthroposophical and scientific knowledge whereby a key plant is carefully chosen for its ability to harmonise the hair or skin, bringing it back to healthy self-regulation.

The lead plant principle defines the main focus or purpose of the product; for Weleda hair care, cereals have been used as the lead plant, to provide structuring and nourishing properties for hair and scalp.

The range is free from SLS, the harsh detergents that cause shampoo to lather. Silicones are also absent; these are used in most traditional hair care products to leave locks shiny and smooth, but over time they coat the hair shaft, sealing out good nutrients and creating build up that leaves hair dull and flat. Instead, Weleda hair care includes natural ingredients that cultivate natural strength and vitality.

The range comprises three shampoos: Millet Nourishing Shampoo for normal hair, to protect, preserve and prevent dryness; Wheat Balancing Shampoo, with wheat germ oil, butchers broom, pansy and organic sage to help treat dandruff and flaky scalps; and Oat Replenishing Shampoo for dry and damaged hair, to smooth the hair's surface and reduce breakage and split ends.

Oat Replenishing Conditioner and Oat Replenishing Treatment provide moisture and nourishment to dry, damaged hair while restoring elasticity and reducing frizz. Rosemary Nourishing Hair Oil nourishes hair, restores moisture, adds radiant shine and provides intensive care for split ends.

Finally, Rosemary Revitalising Hair Tonic has received a facelift but retains the same formula as when launched in 1921. With rosemary oil and extracts of stonecrop and horseradish leaves, it improves the supply of nutrients to the hair roots to tackle hair loss, brittle hair, dandruff and dryness.
