Shiseido to launch web based business model

Shiseido Co Ltd says it is building a totally new business model to unify web communication and experiences at certain Shiseido outlets. The online beauty service, watashi+ will provide newly developed content to offer solutions for customers' beauty concerns. watashi+, due to launch 21 April, will be interconnected with the company’s Beauty & Co website, which itself will launch in collaboration with beauty and health related companies and professionals on 2 April.

The service was conceived, says Shiseido, because its existing business model was unable to deal with certain aspects of customer service. Features include web counselling, whereby consumers can get advice on suitable products from web based beauty consultants and by using an online virtual make-up simulator; a store navigation function, which helps customers find local retail stores providing services best suited to their needs; and an online store.

Meanwhile, Beauty & Co seeks to expand contact points between its customers and participating companies’ websites.
