Sitting across from sisters Simi and Haze Khadra as they talk about their eponymous brand, SimiHaze Beauty, it is apparent how invested and excited the pair are by everything they do.
Having launched the brand in summer 2021 to create fun yet high functioning make-up that matched their lifestyle as DJs, SimiHaze Beauty has gone from strength-to-strength, expanding not only its product line but also its global footprint.
Now available to buy physically in retailers Olive Young in Korea, and Selfridges and Space NK in the UK, alongside a growing presence in The Netherlands, Saudi Arabia and Dubai, and global outreach through its website, the brand is set to continue building momentum while staying true to its values of ‘conscious consumerism’.
The beauty business balancing act
While SimiHaze Beauty is clearly a priority for the duo, it is just one of many plates the pair are spinning.
Being multifaceted for a long time was seen as not having a direction
On top of the brand, the twins have a long-established career as DJs, as well as having recently graduated with masters degrees from Harvard University in Massachusetts, US.
“I feel like being multifaceted for a long time was seen as not having a direction,” shares Simi.
“When other people say ‘I love how multifaceted you are’, it makes me feel like we are unlearning an inherited assumption about what it means to have purpose.”
Haze adds: “I think that is the next stage of what it means to be an entrepreneur – a woman who is living as her whole self, not compartmentalising ourselves and making ourselves smaller to fit people’s boxes.”
