Waitrose has become the first supermarket to launch an organic beauty range certified by the Soil Association, the UK's largest organic certification body. The Organic Body and Bath range is made with at least 70% organic ingredients and all packaging is recycleable, with the bottle material made from HDPE.
The Organic range includes a soap, handwash, bath soak, body wash and body lotion, all containing organic plant extracts and essential oils such as geranium, mandarin, basil oil and aloe juice. Each product in the range is free from parabens, artificial colours, fragrances and genetically modified ingredients.
A Soil Association spokesperson said that, “We have reached a point in the organic beauty market that is beginning to mirror the growth we've enjoyed in the food market in the last ten years. The launch of these new Soil Association certified products at Waitrose is the signal that the market is now ripe for growth.”
The Waitrose Organic Body and Bath range is available from March and will also be stocked in John Lewis stores. The range is priced from £1.99 to £3.99 and has an introductory 25% off saving until 29 April 2007.
