Steam & clean

Published: 4-Sep-2006

Westfalia Separator has developed a new aseptic version of its CSE 80 clarifier, designed to handle delicate and sensitive cells.

Key to the new design is a patented ‘hydrohermetic’ feed system that enables the inflowing product to be pumped very gently into the rotating bowl, reducing damage to delicate cell structures. The machine also has a high level of automation to suit demanding processes.

The new machine can be steam-sterilised and features a continuous disk-type separator, which removes bacteria, cell fragments and yeasts under sterile conditions, making it suitable for clarifying suspensions. It also has a capacity of 2,500-3,000 l/h (measured for E coli).
