Thailand strengthens position in fatty alcohol ethoxylates
Thai Ethoxylate company Ltd, a 50:50 joint venture between Cognis Thailand and the PTT Chemical Public Company, have inaugurated a new fatty alcohol ethoxylates facility in Rayong in Thailand. The new plant is designed to strengthen the company's position and will produce primarily for customers in the home and personal care industries in a bid to meet increasing global demand.

“Thai Ethoxylate is the country's first manufacturer of fatty alcohol ethoxylates, a key raw material for personal and home care business,” commented the company's director and acting md, Dr Manope Manope Kerdlappol. “The opening of the plant signifies the country's dependence on this once imported raw material. This means annual savings of over $20m for the country.”
Fatty alcohol ethoxylates are made from ethylene oxide and fatty alcohol. The Thai Ethoxylate Company was founded in March 2005 as the country's first producer of fatty alcohol ethoxylates.
