Travel retail is flying high once again with healthy sales and a flurry of launches generating opportunities beyond traditional retail boundaries. Emma Reinhold reports

Despite the cloud of financial uncertainty currently hanging over European heads, the sun was very much shining on the travel retail industry as it met for the annual TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes in September 2011. The blue skies of the French Riviera reflected the optimism on the show floors of the Palais des Festivals with an increase in both exhibitors and visitors, as well as a flurry of new product launches, confirming why the show is such a highly prized event in the exhibition calender.

The exhibition attracted 5,868 delegates from 2,737 companies, up 9% and 6% respectively. Furthermore, 457 exhibiting companies, 37 of which were new or returning, showcased over 3,000 products from many of the biggest and most innovative premium brands.
