Unilever completes Alberto Culver acquisition
$3.7bn cash deal strengthens multinational’s hold on hair
Unilever and Alberto Culver have jointly confirmed that they have obtained the necessary regulatory clearances and Unilever has now acquired the Alberto Culver Company.
Unilever is paying $3.7bn in cash for the company, which generated annual sales in excess of €1.2bn (US$1.6bn) in fiscal 2010. The multinational says the acquisition makes it world leader in hair conditioning, second largest in shampoo and third largest in styling.
