Software that enables up to ten users to work on a single computer has saved 29,000 tons of CO2 emissions in the past year. Userful’s software delivers multiple workstations from one PC, managing them simultaneously through a central web portal.
President Timothy Griffin said of the findings: “Last year our users more than doubled the previous year’s savings, meaning that in the last two years Userful technology has eliminated the equivalent CO2 of taking 7300 cars off the road.”
Another of the software’s environmental benefits is a reduction in the volume of electronic waste, which is high in toxic materials. Userful estimates that its products can reduce this waste by up to 80%.
