Valois's latest sampling campaign, Imagin has been recognised at the Formes de Luxe Awards after it scooped two top awards. The two prizes, voted for by readers of Formes de Luxe magazine and a special jury rewarded the innovative concept of the product.
The sample is described as the first truly flat fragrance sample, which can be used in a variety of sampling campaigns, from mass mailings to cross-marketing efforts. The product has been picked up by a number of large beauty manufacturers including L'Oréal and Estée Lauder. Features include a huge outer surface for branding as well as containing real perfume, which is contained on a saturated sponge inside the sampler.
“Imagine is a brand within a brand,” explains Valois operational marketing manager, Bertrand Loisel. “This is the first time we have used it in a magazine [in partnership with L'Oréal] but it can be used in other sampling situations such as sports games.”
To demonstrate the sampling potential of Imagin, Valois recently undertook a massive marketing campaign at the TFWA exhibition in Cannes. Samples of Imagin were given out in the show itself as well as in taxis and restaurants. There was even branding at the town's heliport to ensure maximum exposure for the product.
“This has been a huge sampling campaign - the first time something like this has been attempted and the reaction has been very positive,” added Loisel.
