Momentive Performance Materials, formerly known as GE Advanced Materials, is introducing an SPF boosting technology that uses film forming silicone resins and lowers formulation costs.

Velvesil Plus emulsifiable gel is claimed to be suitable for a wide range of sun care product formats and delivers new product textures and sensory properties. Specifically it can aid in the dispersion of hydrophilic, or uncoated, physical sunscreens and pigments, and boost SPF.

The gel is compatible with polar sunscreen oils and can be used to formulate stable, low viscosity, pumpable, sunscreen formulations and also be ultilised effectively in colour cosmetics.
