Premium packaging show Luxe Pack Monaco is always a hub of innovation and a centre of creativity, making it the perfect launchpad to forecast what’s likely to happen next in cosmetics packaging.

Cosmetics Business headed to the French Riviera for the annual event, which took place from 28-30 September, to hunt down the trends that are set to shape the beauty product packaging of the future. Here’s what we discovered…

Perhaps one of the most exciting revelations at the show was that the hottest new packaging material is sound.

As beauty brands aim to add more excitement to the unboxing experience, the noises made by the rustle of a pack or the opening of a box offer a chance to add a whole new sensorial element to packaging conception.

One company focused on this space is IRCAM Amplify (pictured, above) – the commercial arm of IRCAM, one of the world's leading acoustic and audio research centres – which has already partnered with the beauty multinational L'Oréal.
