Aptar Beauty unveils double click technology to enhance inclusivity and e-commerce reliability for twist‑to‑lock aerosol actuators

Published: 27-Apr-2026

Aptar Beauty, global leader in dispensing systems, strengthens its aerosol expertise with the Double Click™ technology trademark. This new feature reinforces inclusitivity, e‑commerce reliability and user confidence

It is available for the patented Twist-to-Lock collection, a versatile range of reliable, hoodless aerosol actuators designed for convenience and differentiation.

Expanding Competitiveness in a Resilient Market

The global beauty Valve and Bag-on-Valve market showed good recovery after a post-COVID drop. Market forecasts stay promising, mainly due to the booming hair care category. Growth is also driven by rising consumer expectations around safety, convenience and sensoriality, with key market drivers including:

  • High-performance: pressurized spray technologies delivering a consistent and smooth spray with generous dosage until end of use. Continuous sprays offer more sensorial experiences and are suitable for various applications (from body and hair mists to cooking sprays).
  • Sustainability: the next-generation aerosol solutions are powered by natural propellants which avoid emissions associated with traditional propellants by using compressed air (Bag-on-valve Press’Air Technology). Sustainability features also include the incorporation of Post-Consumer Recycled (PCR) Resin and POM*-free and/or hoodless actuators. Twist-to-Lock actuators can save up to 55% of resin used in production compared to a standard actuator and overcap.
  • Premiumization: aerosols offer a wide range of decoration possibilities, from premium metal bottles or Polyethylene Terephthalate (PET) cans, to customized actuators and caps. Leveraging in-mold capabilities, coloring, and textured visual cues is a great way to support brands’ needs for differentiation to boost shelf presence.

Double ClickTM : Improved Inclusivity and Reliability

  • Inclusive design - This distinctive, audible double signal confirms that the actuator is securely locked or unlocked. Combined with tactile cues like textured finger pads or ribbed collars, it enhances confidence and ease of use for all users. In addition to this sound feedback, the smooth twist motion and wide ergonomic finger pad design of the Twist-to-Lock collection support a more inclusive user experience, ensuring consumers with different levels of motricity can operate aerosols safely and comfortably.
  • E-commerce ready - Aerosols equipped with the patented, lockable Twist-to-Lock mechanisms with Double Click™ Technology are fully compliant with Amazon’s ISTA-6 testing protocols. They are assured to minimize the risks associated with transport and e-commerce distribution network pressures, like leakage, accidental actuation or breakage. Brands and consumers benefit from improved transit safety and product integrity with less risk of returns linked to transit damage.

Twist-to-Lock Collection: Sustainable and Versatile by Design

The hoodless design of the Twist‑to‑Lock aerosol actuators eliminates the need for an overcap, lowering the use of resin in design to 55% compared to traditional
actuators and cap combinations.

Additionally, the actuators of the collection are POM-free, with some being PCR capable, available with up to 100% PCR content. « The Twist-to-Lock collection offers a high level of versatility with many customization options delivering a wide range of formulas, without compromising on spray quality and performance.”

Luigi Garofalo Global Category Director, Personal Care & Home Care, Aptar Beauty.

The aerosol portfolio offers a broad range of valves and actuators to mix and match with different finishes and decoration to support brand equity. This versatile collection adapts to a wide spectrum of formula types, from sprays to powders and gels.

Aptar Beauty’s global manufacturing footprint enables brands to benefit from a reliable local-for-local approach. Components are manufactured close to their customer markets, reducing lead times and lowering the carbon footprint associated with transportation.
