Bare Escentuals reports strong Q4 sales and launches new promotional campaign

Bare Esenctuals Inc, which recently became a subsidiary of Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido, has announced an increase in net sales of 12% from $147.1m in the fourth quarter of 2008 to $165.1m in the quarter ended 3 January 2010.


Bare Esenctuals Inc, which recently became a subsidiary of Japanese cosmetics giant Shiseido, has announced an increase in net sales of 12% from $147.1m in the fourth quarter of 2008 to $165.1m in the quarter ended 3 January 2010.

Net income for the fourth quarter amounted to $39.1m compared to $24.6m in the same period of the previous year.

Solid fourth quarter results ensured that Bare Escentuals’ full year profit was up on 2008, if only just – net income was $98.1m, an increase of 0.1%.

The company has also launched a campaign encouraging consumers to rethink the way they view make-up and challenging the widely held and often erroneous belief that colour cosmetics are bad for the skin. Bare Escentuals Rethink campaign focuses on the benefits of its bareMinerals foundation, which Bare Escentuals describes as “so pure you can sleep in it”.
