€250,000 will help fund on-site initiatives

Chemical supplier BASF has announced that it will contribute €250,000 to the United Nations Central Emergency Fund (CERF) to help aid flood victims in Pakistan.

The donation by the BASF Social Foundation is to go towards on-site initiatives such as the World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO).

“The natural disaster in Pakistan shocks the whole company,” commented chairman of the board of executive directors Jürgen Hambrecht. “With this donation we aim to help people who have lost their homes and are now facing hunger and disease.”

Immediately following the first floods, BASF Pakistan established points around company sites in Karachi, Lahore, Faisalabad and Sialkot from which to distribute food, medicines and utensils donated by company employees. Approximately 1000 relief packets were dispatched to flood hit villages and families, according to the company.
