Alongside the broad shift toward longevity-focused skin care, consumers are prioritising barrier-supportive and moisturising formulas.
Google Trends data shows a daily increase in searches for ‘skin barrier repair’, with a reported 30% growth over the past year, notes Nick Vaus, co-founder and Managing Partner at Free The Birds, who adds: “This reflects rising consumer interest in skin longevity, wellness and overall skin health, which brands are responding to by making the skin barrier a key focus in both messaging and product formulation.”
Mark Curry, co-founder of The Inkey List adds that consumers are becoming more skin-literate and understand that more isn’t better when it comes to exfoliation and actives. The industry is seeing “a shift towards intelligent formulas and routines that prioritise skin health and integrity while still delivering measurable results.”
