Hailey Bieber’s Rhode, Kim Kardashian’s Skims and Labubus were among the spending trends of 2025, according to data from UK digital bank Monzo

Brits spent their money on celebrity beauty brands and artificial intelligence (AI) this year, new bank data has revealed.

Monzo customers forked out £736,000 on model Hailey Bieber’s beauty brand Rhode in 2025.

The hot brand, which sold to e.l.f. Beauty this year in a blockbuster US$1bn deal and made its retail debut at Sephora, beat Kylie Jenner’s namesake make-up line to the top spot.

Customers of the UK digital bank spent £55,000 on Kylie Cosmetics this year.

Meanwhile, their spending on AI more than doubled, indicating the growing appetite for the technology.

Monzo users spent £19m on AI products such as OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, this year.

That figure is an increase from the £8m spent on these types of services in 2024, the bank said.

Shoppers who use Monzo spent £1.84m on products from Skims, the fashion and lifestyle brand from Kim Kardashian, which is plotting its entry into beauty next year.

Monzo also found that the proportion of users shopping at Pop Mart, the maker of Lububu charms, grew 52% compared to 2024.

The monster plushies have been a standout trend of 2025, inspiring collectable keyrings and accessories across the beauty world, from Space NK’s limited edition Jellycat to Bubble’s lip balm keychain.

Meanwhile, Tesco was the top UK supermarket, with £1.7bn spent at the retailer by Monzo customers in 2025.

Other trends of the year were £341,000 spent at Wembley Stadium during Oasis’ reunion tour and £10m spent on Lime bikes in London over summer.

“This was a year of cultural moments defining people’s spending habits,” said AJ Coyne, VP Marketing at Monzo, which is giving users a personalised ‘Year in Monzo’ round-up of their spending via the bank’s app.

“Whether they were shopping for viral must-have products, embracing 1990s Britpop nostalgia or living life on two wheels, we have seen every trend unfold in real time in the Monzo app.”
