Carven bottles Parisian chic

French fashion house Carven is to launch two new male fragrances

French fashion house Carven is to launch two new male fragrances.

The first, Carven Pour Homme (EDT from £35), is presented in a glass bottle - designed by glass manufacturer Pochet - lacquered in black with squared shoulders. It is inspired by a shiny pair of patent leather shoes or a simple black roll-neck sweater on a man.

The scent is intended to reflect 'Paris chic' and was created as a duet by perfumers Patricia Choux and Francis Kurkdijan. It is composed of violet leaf, orange blossom, grapefruit, sage, nutmeg, cedar, sandalwood and vetiver, for a woody, spicy and aromatic blend.

The second launch is simply called Vétiver (EDT from £50) and is a refreshed incarnation of Carven's original Vétiver, first created by perfumer Édouard Hache in 1957. The bottle is this time lacquered in a striking green shade.

The original formula is unchanged, but has been given a 'new look and energy' for relaunch. It opens on a citrus note with grapefuit, bergamot and lemongrass; has a heart of lavender, orange blossom and geranium; and dries down to a base of nutmeg, benzoin, sandalwood, cedar, and of course, vetiver.

Both fragrances launch exclusively at Selfridges on 5 February and will roll-out nationwide on 5 May.
