Chanel has appointed Belgian singer and actress Angèle the face of its new Chance Eau Splendide perfume.

The songwriter, full name née Angèle Joséphine Aimée van Laeken, is promoting the fragrance via a film directed by French film director Jean-Pierre Jeunet.

Within it, Angèle is seen venturing into a hall of mirrors inside a fairground, backed by a song specifically composed for the short video and sung by the singer.

Angèle began her career performing on the streets of Brussels, Belgium, and dropped her first single, La Loi de Murphy, in 2017.

She has more than 3.8 million followers on Instagram, 1.68 million subscribers on YouTube.

“A creative character, liberated and spontaneous, bearing joy. AngèÌle is the ideal lucky charm for this new Chance chapter,” Chanel said in a statement.

“29-year-old Belgian singer-songwriter and actress AngèÌle seized her chance at every step of her career and transformed challenges into glorious artistic feats.”

Angèle has worked with Chanel since 2020, first appearing in an eye make-up campaign following the launch of her album Brol that year.

Chance Eau Splendide is the brand’s new fruity floral fragrance that blends raspberry accord with crisp fruit, rose and violet.

This is set against a heart of rose geranium partly grown in the Chanel fields in Grasse, France.

Cedar joins white musk notes for the base notes, combining to create a woody finish.
