Charlotte Tilbury has named Rosy Zhao as its Global Make-Up Brand Ambassador.

The Chinese actress and singer has appeared in her first social media campaign, promoting the launch of the Puig-owned make-up brand’s new Pillow Talk Beautifying Cushion Foundation in Asia.

Zhao, known for her roles in The Long Ballard and Who Rules The World, has also put her face to two further product launches – Pillow Talk Love Effect Lipstick in Naughty Talk and Beauty Soulmates Palette in Flawless Pink.

Tilbury, the namesake founder who still owns a stake in the make-up brand, said in a post on Instagram: “Darlings, I am so excited to reveal that the talented and beautiful Chinese actress and singer @rooosyzh09 [Rosy Zhao] has joined Charlotte Tilbury Beauty as my new Global Makeup Brand Ambassador.”

Zhao, who is also a global brand ambassador for luxury fashion house Versace, is the latest name to be added to Charlotte Tilbury’s roster of ambassadors.

Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall fronted a star-studded campaign for its new limited edition Pillow Talk Beauty Soulmates campaign along with models Kate Moss and Jourdan Dunn.

Chinese singer and music producer Cai Xukun, known as KUN, was tapped earlier this year and was the face of a campaign for its Airbrush Flawless Finish powder.

Formula 1 Academy driver Chloe Chong also fronted a recent campaign for International Women’s Day.

Tilbury said she calls her new cushion foundation the “cushion of youth”, adding that it “smooths and blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines for a plump, fresh and  supple-looking complexion”.

Cushion foundations are popular in Asia and are praised for their convenience and coverage, which often incorporates elements of skin care.

The format has started gaining traction amid rising interest in K-beauty in the west and Korean beauty brand TirTir went viral on social media.

Charlotte Tilbury isn’t the only western brand looking to jump on the trend.

L’Oréal-owned Prada Beauty launched its Reveal Mesh Cushion foundation earlier this year.
